Managed agricultural projects
How do managed agricultural projects work?
SOG Agribusiness connects clients who have capital available with farmers who need capital to carry out agricultural projects. We identify and assess projects, share project information with interested clients, and — where an engagement goes ahead under a signed agreement — monitor operations and report on progress throughout the project. When a project is completed and its financial position is established, any distributions are calculated according to the signed agreement and applicable law.
How are projects selected?
Projects are reviewed for feasibility, operational requirements, budget, risks and the expected production cycle before they are considered. Only projects that pass this review are presented to clients, and selection is never a guarantee of success.
Are returns guaranteed?
No. Agricultural projects carry real risks — including weather, pests, disease, market prices and logistics — and results can be lower than expected or negative. We do not promise or guarantee any return, repayment or protection of capital.
Can I invest or send money through this website?
No. This website does not accept funds, investment commitments or payments of any kind. It provides information about our services and lets you contact our team. Any engagement would only take place through a documented process and a signed written agreement, in line with applicable law.
Project monitoring and reporting
How will I know how a project is progressing?
Clients receive progress updates covering milestones, expenditure, operational developments and any material risks. The format and frequency of reporting are set out in each client agreement.
How are projects monitored?
Our team follows each project through its agreed lifecycle, documenting milestones, expenditure and field conditions, and raising issues with clients when they arise. The specific monitoring arrangements for a project are described in its project information and agreement.
Fees and contracts
How does SOG Agribusiness charge for its services?
We charge a service fee for managing projects and for coordinating agricultural venture setup. Fees depend on the size, complexity, budget and scope of the work, and are set out in writing before any agreement is signed. We do not publish a fixed price list because every project is different.
Will I sign a contract?
Yes. No service begins without a signed written agreement that defines the scope, responsibilities, fees, reporting, risks and other applicable terms.
Agricultural risks
What risks affect agricultural projects?
Common risks include irregular rainfall and other weather events, pests and plant or animal diseases, changes in market prices and input costs, transport and logistics problems, and operational issues. These can delay a project, reduce output or cause losses. Read our Agricultural Project Risk Disclosure for more detail.
What happens if a project is delayed or unsuccessful?
How delays, shortfalls and incomplete projects are handled is defined in the written agreement for each engagement. We communicate material issues to clients as part of our reporting.
Turnkey farm setup
Can you set up a farm for me?
Yes. Our agricultural venture setup service is for clients who have the funds to establish an agricultural business but not the time, expertise or local team to do it themselves. We can coordinate the process from feasibility and planning through setup, operations and handover. Learn how it works.
Do I need to own land already?
Not necessarily. Land and site requirements are assessed early in the process. Whether you already have land or need help identifying a suitable site, the approach is agreed with you during the assessment.
What is included in a farm setup package?
The scope is defined for each client after an assessment. It may include feasibility, budgeting, procurement, infrastructure setup, staff recruitment or coordination, production planning, monitoring and handover — but only the services listed in your signed agreement are included.
International clients
Do you work with clients outside Cameroon?
We welcome inquiries from international clients, including members of the diaspora. Any engagement is subject to the legal, regulatory and operational requirements that apply in Cameroon and in the client’s country, which we review before entering into an agreement.
How do you communicate with international clients?
We can communicate by email, phone or WhatsApp, and progress reporting is delivered in writing so that clients can follow their project from abroad. Let us know your preferred contact method when you get in touch.
Project timelines
How long does an agricultural project take?
It depends on the activity. Seasonal crops such as maize follow a cycle of a few months, cassava typically takes longer to mature, and tree crops such as oil palm take several years to reach full production. The estimated timeline for each project is shared in its project information.
How long does it take to set up a farm venture?
Setup time depends on the type and size of the venture, site readiness, procurement and approvals. A realistic timeline is prepared during the planning stage and included in your proposal.
